Bruce Headey is Senior Research Fellow at the Melbourne Institute of Applied Economic and Social Research, University of Melbourne. He was formerly at  the Centre for Public Policy, University of Melbourne. He is a political scientist whose most recent book is Real Worlds of Welfare Capitalism (Cambridge University Press, 1999) co-authored with Robert E. Goodin, Ruud Muffels and Henk-Jan Dirven. He has also written extensively on issues connected with subjective well-being and mental health and co-authored with Alex Wearing, Understanding Happiness: A Theory of Subjective Well-Being (Longman Cheshire, 1992).
