CODEBOOK  FOR SECTION 10:
INTERNATIONAL SOCIAL SURVEY PROGRAMME: SOCIAL INEQUALITY, AND RELATED QUESTIONS

These questions were developed by the International Social Survey Programme, a
collaborative enterprise involving leading academic survey organizations in many
countries. This module was proposed by, and the Drafting Group chaired by, Jonathan
Kelley and MDR Evans.
Data on them are available not only for Australia but for 9 other nations in
1987-1989. Many of these questions are repeated in the 1992 ISSP "Inequality-II"
survey; data on these are available from Australia and more than a dozen other
countries.
This section provides two kinds of data: First the data available in the ISSS/
Australia file (which is documented immediately below), and second -- at the end of
this section -- a dataset from the ISSP module for 9 nations that has been prepared
using the coding and comparability procedures documented in Kelley and Evans
(1993).
